Bring your four-legged friend for an evening of fun at Yappy Hour at The Roof at Oppenheim’s!
Join fellow dog lovers on Wednesday, September 30 from 6:00–9:00 PM for a dog-friendly rooftop happy hour featuring food and drink specials, professional pet photo opportunities, dog-themed treats, doggie pools and obstacle courses, local pet vendors and shelters, and live entertainment by Walton Entertainment.
Tickets are $10 per person, and dogs attend free. Space is limited. The event will be rescheduled in the event of rain.

Barktober Fest

Barktober Fest is held at Maiolatesi Wine Cellars from 12 pm to 5 pm. There will be vendors, music, raffles, 50/50, adoptable dogs, and food trucks.
Bring a lawn chair, your dog, have some wine or beer.
Tickets are $25 with a souvenir glass with two wine or beer tickets, or $10 general admission without any drinking.

Celebrate Halloween with Griffin Pond Animal Shelter at a family-friendly Trunk or Treat on Saturday, October 24 from 5:00–7:00 PM!
Bring the kids in their favorite costumes for a fun and festive evening of trick-or-treating among creatively decorated vehicles while supporting the shelter and its work in the community.
Griffin Pond is also looking for individuals, families, businesses, and community groups to decorate a vehicle and hand out treats during the event.

Join us for our fourth quarter NEPA Animal Welfare Collaborative Meeting as we continue working together to strengthen animal welfare throughout our region.
We’ll share collaborative updates, discuss current initiatives, hear from partner organizations, and explore opportunities to continue advancing animal welfare across NEPA.
We’re excited to welcome John Ackourey as a guest speaker for the evening! John will share his experience and work supporting animals in our community, along with insights that can help inform and inspire our continued collaborative efforts.
We’re grateful to John for all he does for animals in need and look forward to welcoming him to the Collaborative on November 4! Working on getting a BIO or photo from him.

Join Griffin Pond Animal Shelter for an afternoon of bingo, prizes, and fun on Sunday, November 8, 2026, at the Holiday Inn Scranton East – Dunmore, all while supporting homeless animals in our community.
Doors open at 1:00 PM, with games beginning at 3:00 PM. Tickets are $50 per person.
Guests will have the chance to play for prizes including designer jewelry, purses, specialty gifts, and more. The event will also feature basket raffles, a 50/50 drawing, a Mega Raffle, food, drinks, and additional chances to win throughout the afternoon.
Proceeds help Griffin Pond Animal Shelter provide care, shelter, and second chances to animals in need.
Attendees must be 21 or older to claim a prize.

Mark your calendars! The NEPA Animal Welfare Collaborative is excited to host the third bi-annual NEPA Pet Expo & Animal Care Summit on Saturday, March 6, 2027, at Viewmont Mall.
This free, family-friendly event brings together animal shelters, rescues, veterinary professionals, pet-related businesses, and community organizations from across Northeastern Pennsylvania to celebrate pets and promote responsible pet ownership.
Attendees can look forward to:
